Manhattan D.A. Cy Vance Jr.'s office has opened an investigation into allegations of physical assault made against New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman by four women in a New Yorker article published Monday.
"Our office has opened an investigation into the recently reported allegations concerning Mr. Schneiderman," Vance's communications director Danny Frost said in a statement late Monday.
Vance's investigation comes a little more than a month after Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered Schneiderman to open an investigation into how Vance handled criminal complaints against movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
Schneiderman announced, hours after the article published, that he would resign his post effective Tuesday.
