Like clockwork, another tweet from President Trump’s past has come floating up out of the digital aether to haunt him. This time, it’s one dripping with faux outrage about fake news.
Less than two months ago, Trump tweeted that he was “VERY happy” with his legal team composed of John Dowd, Ty Cobb, and Jay Sekulow and the “great job” they were doing. Since he penned the little whiny message, John Dowd has already left his team. Now another name can be stricken from the list.
The Failing New York Times purposely wrote a false story stating that I am unhappy with my legal team on the Russia case and am going to add another lawyer to help out. Wrong. I am VERY happy with my lawyers, John Dowd, Ty Cobb and Jay Sekulow. They are doing a great job and…..

The New York Times has revealed that Ty Cobb, the moustachioed attorney hired to spearhead the president’s defenses against Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, will retire at the end of the month.
Cobb will be replaced by Emmett T. Flood, the lawyer who helped former President Bill Clinton during his impeachment process. Flood’s hiring is a clear indication that the current administration sees serious legal trouble on their horizon. There is a very real possibility that Mueller uncovers enough wrongdoing to sink Trump and spur Congress to pursue articles of impeachment against him.
“It has been an honor to serve the country in this capacity at the White House. I wish everybody well moving forward,” Cobb told the Times. He added that he informed Trump of his decision weeks ago.
Cobb is just the latest departure from a president who has demonstrated a profound inability to retain staff for any long stretches of time. His White House is a chaotic maelstrom constantly sucking in new officials and expelling others. Those who elect to join his team rarely stay long, but inevitably leave with the stench of helping an evil, incompetent man clinging to them. Working with Trump is a stain that will never wash out. Cobb is wise to get out while he still can.
