White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders demurred on whether President Donald Trump still has confidence in EPA chief Scott Pruitt, saying on Wednesday that West Wing officials are "reviewing" the ethics allegations against him.
“We’re reviewing the situation,” Sanders said at the daily press briefing. “When we have had the chance to have a deeper dive on it, we’ll let you know the outcomes of that. But we're currently reviewing that here at the White House.”
Pruitt has been on the defensive over a stream of negative headlines over his $50-a-night condo deal with a lobbyist, agency discussions of leasing a private plane, and unorthodox raises given to political staffers.
