Presidents Donald Trump on Friday extended his “thoughts and prayers” to the friends and families of the seven military officers killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the brave troops lost in the helicopter crash on the Iraq-Syria border yesterday,” the president tweeted.
Trump added: “Their sacrifice in service to our country will never be forgotten."
U.S. officials said Thursday that an HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter crashed in western Iraq with seven service members on board, the Associated Press reported.
All seven aboard the helicopter were killed, the Pentagon confirmed Friday.
U.S. Central Command, in a statement issued Friday, said the helicopter crashed approximately at 6:45 p.m. local time near Qaim, a town in Iraq's Anbar province.
Military officials said the crash "does not appear to be a result of enemy activity."
The incident is under investigation.
