The NRA just taunted the Parkland survivors on March For Our Lives in a sickening fashion

- Maret 24, 2018

With hundreds of thousands of people marching in the streets around the world urging an end to gun violence and action on meaningful gun regulation reform in the United States as part of the March For Our Lives, the National Rifle Association is feeling a threat to its nefarious agenda of an open carry assault weapon on every shoulder like it never has before.

Not used to this level of opposition after years of bribing politicians with campaign contributions to get whatever they wanted, the NRA is sinking to new lows trying to figure out how to deal with the pervasive media attention showered on the survivors of the horrific murders at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida who have marshalled unprecedented attention to their cause to ensure that this type of massacre will #NeverAgain happen.

That their agenda is being undermined by a group of increasingly well-known teen-aged high school students is particularly galling for the hyper-macho NRA who are still grappling with how to alter their messaging now that they can’t use the tired old trope about Obama coming to take away your guns, especially when protestors are turning that paranoid fantasy back against them.

Add your name to demand Trump & Congress act to prevent gun violence. THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE NOT ENOUGH!

As crude and unseemly as it may be, the NRA has launched an all-out attack on the activist teens, declaring them too immature to have legitimate opinions on gun reform, when the rest of the nation sees them as precociously developing into the conscience of the country with a striking level of poise and articulateness in the face of the wrenching trauma they’ve undergone.

The NRA has accused the teens of being attention seekers funded and manipulated by leftist groups because they are resistant to the NRA’s own right-wing, oligarch-funded manipulations.

One of the NRA’s many avenues for trying to maintain their iron grip on gun policy for the benefit of the arms merchants they truly represent is NRATV. On the evening before the historic March For Our Lives, Colion Noir, an NRATV host, demonstrated the utter cluelessness of the organization in trying to paint the Parkland teens as enemies who are trying to sabotage the NRA’s interpretation of American’s 2nd Amendment rights.

Noir, the pseudonym of Collins Iyare Idehen Jr., a lawyer and gun rights activist from Houston, must have an inherent jealousy of the media attention that the teens have garnered since he mistakenly believes that the reason for their activism is rooted in a desire for personal fame. How else could he make a statement like this?

“To all the kids from Parkland getting ready to use your First Amendment to attack everyone else’s Second Amendment at your march on Saturday, I wish a hero like Blaine Gaskill had been at Marjory Douglas High School last month because your classmates would still be alive and no one would know your names, because the media would have completely and utterly ignored your story, the way they ignored his,” Noir said.

Noir/Idehen is referring to Sheriff’s Deputy Blaine Gaskill, the SWAT-trained officer who shot and killed a disturbed teenager who shot his ex-girlfriend at Great Mills High School in Southern Maryland last week, and the NRA’s new poster boy for their cynically misguided slogan designed to double gun sales around the country, “the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

Setting aside the most pertinent question as to who gets to decide who’s the good guy and who’s the bad guy, this slogan, and its attendant call to arm teachers in the classroom, continues to ignore the most salient fact about guns: the fewer guns in a community, the fewer gun deaths that occur.

As far as the Parkland survivors go, they have become inured to attacks by selfish gun enthusiasts with no regard for the lives and safety of our nation’s children.

“I just think it’s a testament to the sick immaturity and broken state of our government when these people feel the need to peddle conspiracy theories about people that were in a school shooting where 17 people died, and it just makes me sick,” David Hogg told BuzzFeed News. “It’s immature, rude and inhuman for these people to destroy the people trying to prevent the death of the future of America because they won’t.”

The NRA is in a corner and facing the battle of their lives. They may have the guns, but the rest of us have common sense, decency, and the vote. If they can’t see that the tide has turned against them, they’ll be drowning in a sea of disgusted voters ready to demand action on gun regulations and a return to the originalist intentions of the 2nd amendment as a right to raise state militias before long. #NeverAgain #MarchForOurLIves
