With President Trump having declared open warfare on his own Federal Bureau of Investigation, the FBI and its alumni are fighting back.
The latest prominent former intelligence community official to denounce the president for his disgraceful dismissal of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe just 26 hours before he was due to retire, scuttling his pension after 21 years of government service, is former CIA Director John Brennan.
Brennan took to Twitter to publicly challenge Trump directly and predict his imminent defeat in the public arena.
When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America…America will triumph over you. https://t.co/uKppoDbduj

Brennan headed the CIA during the Obama administration, so he was privy to the initial intelligence reports of Russian meddling in the election in support of Trump.
Like most responsible members of the intelligence community — and unlike the president and his treasonous Republican allies — he believes the results of the investigations by numerous federal agencies about Russian hacking of our election and its surreptitious propaganda campaign to undermine Hillary Clinton and place their malleable and compromised stooge into the Oval Office.
Brennan’s brazen and articulate message of defiance — and his prediction of the president’s ultimate downfall once all of the information that Special Counsel Mueller has been meticulously gathering is made public — gives the country hope that our national nightmare will soon be coming to a close.
However, that doesn’t let him off the hook for endorsing Trump’s nominee to replace Mike Pompeo as CIA director, Gina Haspel. Brennan praised the woman who oversaw a CIA black site torture camp and destroyed evidence of the Bush administration’s crimes against humanity, saying that she had “integrity” and praising her for carrying “out her duties at CIA to the best of her ability, even when the CIA was asked to do some very difficult things in very challenging times” – a disgusting euphemism for waterboarding a man 83 times before deciding that he actually didn’t have any information of value.
But his words on Trump still ring true – and the end of his tenure cannot come quickly enough.
