Alec Baldwin has responded to President Donald Trump’s provocations with his trademark wit. Earlier today, the former reality television star turned leader of the free world took to the social media platform to vent in what has become a nauseating habit for him. With his administration hemorrhaging staff at an unprecedented rate, it appears Trump believes attacking actors is the best use of his time.
Presumably, the outburst of rage was precipitated by a recent interview in which Baldwin said that playing Trump was “agony” and said that Americans should focus on the upcoming midterms to oust Republican control of Congress.
Baldwin went on to say that just about any average person is better qualified and would make a better president than Trump. He said the key going forward is to focus on getting rid of Trump. The former statement is stark but feels more and more accurate with each passing day.
Obviously, given his thin-skinned personality, Trump didn’t take well to the (perfectly fair and accurate) criticism. Rather than grapple with the economic fallout over his surprise steel tariff or any of the myriad other pressing issues on his desk, he decided to tap away a little angry Twitter message.
Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!

Baldwin, not one to be easily bullied, quickly responded with a tweet about what he’s looking forward to, namely, Trump’s impeachment and ousting from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, calling it the “Good Stuff.”
Agony though it may be, I’d like to hang in there for the impeachment hearings, the resignation speech, the farewell helicopter ride to Mara-A-Lago. You know. The Good Stuff. That we’ve all been waiting for.

Watching the two battle it out is entertaining despite the fact that Trump is clearly severely outmatched intellectually and creatively. Baldwin has become the quintessential Trump impersonator, mixing an acute observation of the president’s worst mannerisms with a satirical exaggeration. Trump, never someone able to laugh at himself, has been enraged at the film and television star since he first took to stage to mock him. Hopefully, Baldwin gets his final victory and Trump is booted out of office soon.
