The White House just took action to cover up how Trump enabled yesterday’s shooter

- Februari 15, 2018

In the wake of yesterday’s Florida school shooting that killed 17, the White House refused media requests for a February 2017 photo of Trump signing a bill overturning H.J. Resolution 40, an Obama-era regulation restricting mentally ill people from buying guns.

Trump blamed “neighbors and classmates” for not reporting the shooter, even though teachers in fact banned him from carrying a backpack to school because they found him so frightening.

If Trump and his craven Republican Party did not implement policies that make it easy for deranged people to access military-grade assault weapons, perhaps the shooter never would have been able to act out his monstrous fantasy.

Clearly aware of the White House’s complicity in the accelerating epidemic of gun massacres, Trump’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters, “We don’t plan to release the picture at this time,” even though a West Wing photographer admitted to possessing photos of Trump signing the pro-NRA bill.

NRA director Chris Cox, said of Trump’s infamous bill-signing, “We have now have a president who respects and supports our right to keep and bear arms.”

The United States is the only developed nation where mass shootings occur on an almost daily basis.

Without a ban on assault weapons, and ban on gun access to mentally ill people, domestic abusers, and terrorists, this nation’s most dangerous past time will only further imperil its populous.

Instead, Trump — emboldened by the NRA-backed Republican party — has made it easier for sick people to walk into America’s schools and mow down our most innocent citizens, but the White House wants to hide the photographic evidence because they know how wrong they are.

We must vote out Republicans in November to set our nation on a course toward a safer future for our children.
